At Downtown Deli, food quality and safety are at the heart of everything we do.

We partner with trusted South African artisan producers and premium food manufacturers to provide exceptional gourmet products.

Food Safety

Every effort is made to ensure products are:

Stored correctly.
Transported safely.
Delivered in excellent condition.
Within their recommended shelf life.

Frozen and chilled products are transported using temperature-controlled vehicles within our designated delivery regions.

Storage After Delivery

Customers are responsible for storing products according to the instructions provided on the packaging immediately after delivery.

Downtown Deli cannot accept responsibility for spoilage resulting from incorrect storage after the order has been delivered.

Allergens

Many artisan products are produced in facilities that also handle:

Fish
Shellfish

Although suppliers take great care during production, Downtown Deli cannot guarantee that products are completely free from allergens or traces of allergens.

Customers with food allergies or dietary requirements should carefully review product ingredient information before purchasing.

Best Before Dates

Best Before dates indicate when a product is expected to be at its best quality.

Many products remain perfectly safe after this date if stored correctly.

Use By dates should always be strictly observed.

Handmade Artisan Products

As many of our products are handmade in small batches, slight variations in colour, texture, flavour and appearance are natural and are not considered defects.
